Rita Chahal, MCC General Manager, (l) and David Northcott of Winnipeg Harvest

On July 5, Winnipeg Harvest had a visit from Rita Chahal, General Manager of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. Her visit included a tour where she saw a behind the scenes look at the daily operations at Winnipeg Harvest.

Rita was able to see our volunteers and staff in action and witness some of the recent construction taking place.

Winnipeg Harvest is preparing for a new building which is slotted for completion by January 2011. This new expansion will allow Winnipeg Harvest to fulfill the increased need in the community and to continue to train individuals with skills for employment.

Following the tour, Rita presented Winnipeg Harvest with a cheque for $430.00 on behalf of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. The money was raised at an auction at the Chambers’ 2010 AGM in Russell, Manitoba.

For every $1 Winnipeg Harvest receives, $20 of food can be leveraged.

Winnipeg Harvest thanked the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce for its help in “Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope” in Manitoba and looks forward to working together on future projects.
