The Dufferin Agricultural Society and the Carman and Community Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce a new partnership between the Carman Country Fair and the Potato and Blossom Festival.
Both events will now take place at the same time in order to appeal to a larger audience.
From July 8-10, 2010 there will be events taking place both at the Dufferin Agricultural Society Grounds and in downtown Carman.
As a part of this new partnership a combined committee has been formed to organize the event. The representatives from the Dufferin Agricultural Society include: President Elaine Owen, Past President Don Skeavington, Gary Hooper and Rod Savage.
Representing the Carman and Community Chamber of Commerce are: President Heidi Sandulak, Sean Billing, Andrea Picton-Nichol, Travis Rintoul and Sijmen Riedstra.
The committee has been working to put together an event that will appeal to everyone and bring visitors to the community. This work is starting to pay off and the committee is pleased to announce that Wonder Shows will be returning again with their excellent midway. There will be many other additions announced in the upcoming months leading up to the Carman Country Fair weekend. In addition to new items a lot of your favourites will be back again in 2010 including: Petting Zoo, Demolition Derby, Beer Gardens, Cattle and Horse Shows, Parade, Fireworks, Car Show, Free Fries, Free Baked Potatoes and much more.
“We are looking forward to the partnership and increased community participation in the business district and at the fair grounds,” said DAS President Elaine Owen.
The Town of Carman and the Rural Municipality of Dufferin are pleased to see these groups working together and are pleased to support the partnership.
The committee is also working together to be a part of the “World’s Largest Social” event being coordinated in partnership with Manitoba Homecoming 2010. This social will take place on Saturday May 15th at the Carman & District Community Hall.
Additional details will be announced in February.
“I am very proud to be a part of this dedicated team effort. This is the beginning of a true community partnership and plans are in the works to combine our two community events maintaining activities at both festival locations,” said Carman and Community Chamber of Commerce President Heidi Sandulak.
