Vic Toews Speaks In Winkler

May 29, 2009 | Government News

The Honourable Vic Toews, President of the Federal Treasury Board, spoke at a Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.

Toews told the audience that Canada has established itself as a trading nation, having worked on a number of trade agreement like the Free Trade Agreement with the U.S.

He also said we need to continue in that direction, because taking a protectionist attitude could have serious ramifications regarding the ability to maintain and expand the economy.

Toews added that taking a protectionist attitude will not allow for expansion of industries, but rather limit them to their abilities and opportunities in the markets.
