Manitoba’s new Packaging and Printed Paper Stewardship Regulation makes the “stewards” of packaging and printed paper responsible for organizing and supporting a program to recover those materials. Stewards are companies that are the first suppliers or first sellers of packaging and printed paper. This may include your company.

Under the new regulation, industry is responsible for 80 percent of the net cost of efficient recycling programs for packaging and printed paper. (This is currently the responsibility of the Manitoba Product Stewardship Corporation.)

Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba (MMSM) is the industry funding organization for packaging and printed paper. It has developed a Draft Program Plan on how industry will assume and manage this new responsibility, and will hold industry consultations on the Draft Program Plan.

It is important that potential stewards participate in the consultation process. You are invited to take part in a consultation workshop, either in person or via webcast.

Date: Thursday, June 4

Location: Winnipeg Convention Centre, 375 York Ave., Meeting Room 2 (main floor).

Time: 1 p.m. CST to 4 p.m. CST

There is no charge for attending this workshop.
