Six years ago the MCC created an annual award ceremony to recognize its community leaders.
“It may sound trite, but the strength of the chamber movement is its members – those individuals who, in addition to a myriad of responsibilities ranging from work to family, dedicate themselves to making their communities better places to live, work and raise a family” explains MCC President Graham Starmer.
Two awards are presented, one for direct service to the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and one for service to a local chamber. The award for direct service to the MCC was named for Harry Mardon after the chamber icon passed away in 2004.
Both recipients receive an engraved award, are commemorated on a plaque in the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce office, and are profiled on the MCC Website.
The recipients of the awards are formally announced during the banquet of the MCC AGM.
