Jack Wilson was born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba, and attended Red River College in Winnipeg, where he studied Business Administration.
Jack Wilson has shown a strong interest and involvement in the community over the years. While in Portage la Prairie, he was involved in the Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Portage Strawberry Festival, Kinsmen Club, “Save the Base Campaign” and various sports activities.
Jack is a recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, and he was elected President of the Chamber Insurance Corporation of Canada. In 1992-93 he served as Chair of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. After 1993, Jack continued to serve on the Chambers’ Board and is currently the Regional Vice-Chair of the Capital Region.
He has been extensively involved in discussions related to the Capital Region and many other sensitive issues. Jack has always been very active on the Board of the Chamber and has an exceptional record of attendance at Board meetings.
Jack has two adult children. His daughter is married and works as a commercial pilot in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, and his son graduated in Mechanical Engineering (minor in Aerospace Engineering) from the University of Manitoba. Jack’s wife Muriel has also provided great support and assistance to the Chamber
